How to get there - From Uxbridge take the A 408 south to Cowley and thence Cowley Peachy. Look for the Paddington Packet Boat public house on the west side of the road. From High St./High Rd. turn right into Packet Boat Lane. Go over the bridge to the second boatyard/marina. Park in the packet Boat Marina car park.

For those with SatNav the postcode is UB8 2JR.

Suggested Launch Site - The Packet Boat Marina is BWB and visitors are welcome. The cafe has closed from lack of customers. The receptionist sells snacks and cold drinks and will probably let you use the toilets.

Check closing time for the car park.

Launch in front of the main building.

General Description - Paddle south out of the marina into the Slough arm. Turn left, then right into the main canal. The canal turns slowly eastwards through older houses, light industrial sites, Hanson's works and post-industrial sites (posh flats to be), and some parks.

West Drayton Station, the A312 bridge, Hayes Town and the main rail bridges are landmarks. There are a few pubs.

There are old docks in places, some disused and some BWB.

At Bull's Bridge there is the junction with the Paddington Arm. Here is a large Tesco store with cafe and toilets. There is also a preserved old dry dock.

This is a good place to turn round. The total return distance is 8 miles, with no locks.
