I do this route regularly but in reverse (Slough to Packet Boat Inn and back) - very under rated canal - great industrial rural mix and the wildlife is great - sightings of kingfisgers garanteed, herons, sparrow hawks and I've even seen a large turtle basking happily on a log that someone has obviously released when it grew too big. The word Slough doesn't seem that inspiring but don`t let that put you off. This is a great paddle.
